Fitness in golf, exercises, stretches, workouts and training can improve any golfer no matter age or ability, equally as well as golf lessons and practice...
The above statement might throw you for a minute, but continue reading this article and you will see why I strongly feel this way. I have received hundreds of emails and phone calls from golfers who have taken lessons and hit thousands of pracice balls and still not seen improvement.
Fitness for Golf Instead of Lessons
Lets explain why golfers are not improving after they take a golf lesson or a series of golf lessons.
Many times a golfer will take a lesson because of a swing fault he or she is experiencing. Could be slicing the ball, coming out of the swing, topping it, you name it.
The teaching pro proceeds to to tell the golfer (or maybe you) the mechanics involved to improve this swing fault.
You try and try to get your body to make the change but it won't. Why? Because your body has "physical limitations" that will not allow it to! This is like banging your head against a wall.
If you do not address the limitations in your body via golf fitness, you will never permanently solve this swing fault. Does that now make sense?
Golf Practice Can Be Futile
Have you ever gone to your local practive facility and hit a hundred or so balls, but never seemed to achieve what you went there for ?
You are not alone! Many golfers experience this phenomena daily. There is a reason why this occurs. I hate to repeat myself but it is a "physical" issue.
You go to the practice range with a goal in mind. To work on some phsas of your swing or to hit a certain type golf shot. You try but cannot get it to happen.
It is your body keeping your from this. Your body is swinging the club, and your mind that frustratingly thinks it should be able to do what you tell it to. Those nasty physical limitations I mentioned above creep in and do not allow you to accomplish your practice goal.
The Solution is Fitness Specific to Golf
Now picture this! You get a golf fitness evaluation and diagnose your weakness whether it be strength or flexibility. This evaluation will likely show you exactly why you have a certain swing fault or lack of proper swing mechanics.
You get on a golf fitness program to address these personal limitations you diagnosed. You are consistent with your program. The next time you take a lesson it is more productive and your confidence grows. Your next practice session goes as planned.
You then go to the course and notice slight imrovements that save you a few strokes and get you through some of your previous mental holes. A sense of accomplishment is felt after the round.
Fitness in Golf is the answer to a better game that will last. Your golf swing and game will slowly become what you thought it should all this time.
