Regain Golf Flexibility For A Power Golf Swing In 2006

Golf flexibility is talked about by every aging golfer, but not implemented on a consistent basis. Golfers know the importance of golf flexibility and how it can create tremendous power in the golf swing, but have not devised a golf stretching program to reap the benefits.
There are many forms of stretching, but only one that will help you see results quickly. The form I’m talking about is “dynamic” golf flexibility. This movement-related, not static (hold).
I’m not saying that static stretching is bad or ineffective; just that dynamic golf stretching is more effective.
The golf swing is a rotational “movement” that requires a sequence of motion. There is no tension in the golf swing, therefore holding a golf stretch for 30 seconds isn’t the most effective method to improve the dynamic requirements of the golf swing.
A golf flexibility routine that will improve your backswing and follow through range of motion should incorporate many rotational golf stretching exercises that mimic the specific movements of the golf swing.
That means in your golf posture utilizing tubing, hand weights or anything you have laying around the house. When you can incorporate rotational golf flexibility exercises with resistance, you will see a dramatic improvement in those specific movements in your golf swing.
Sport-specific or for the purpose of this article, golf specific training should closing mimic the requirements of both strength and flexibility, not just one. A golf flexibility routine that does not incorporate some form of resistance training will not lead to long-term improvements. And may lead to injury.
A great example is the rubber band.
What happens to a rubber band if you keep stretching and stretching it?
It gets brittle and breaks right? Picture your ligaments, tendons and muscles the same way. But…if you incorporate resistance training alongside your golf flexibility routine, you’ll see permanent improvement in your range of motion.
I could spend a lot more time on this topic, but for the purpose of this article I hope you’ve gained a better understanding of golf flexibility.
