Fundamentals - 3 Phases Of Golf Swing
To break your fundamentals down and make them easier to understand, think of your golf swing in 3 phases or blocks. You've got the backswing, downswing, and follow through.
Golf Backswing
Every golfer works on their backswing. Haven't you ever gotten in a mirror and did your backswing repeatedly? I do this daily! Maybe I'm a bit obsessed! Your golf backswing sets up your entire swing. If it is off, so is your swing. Focus on a smooth backswing that gets you to the top in a consistent position.
Golf Downswing
The downswing in golf is just as critical as the backswing. There are so many glitches that can happen that will create mishit after mishit. Always try to come from the inside. This way you won't ever hit the dreaded slice ball. Do not jerk your downswing with a hitting motion from the top. Think pause, then come down patiently. Don't worry...you'll hit the ball plenty far!
Follow Through Swing
The follow through is NEVER practiced by most golfers! I say this confidently, because I never see any golfer doing this move on the range, during the round or anywhere else! The follow through dictates your power. Swing all the way to a full finish and you've maximized your power! If your follow through is balanced, your golf swing will be consistent most of the time!
Keep your golf swing fundamentals as simple as this and you will be a consistent golfer who continually improves. Try to apply every tip you get from magazines, friends and the television, and you'll be a frustrated golfer for a long time!
