A simple, but effective golf workout routine could help you win handily over your playing partners as well as route your competitors. For starters all you ’ll need are a pair of dumbbells and 15 minutes a day of doing five to six golf specific exercises. Now how simple can a golf workout routine get?
No need to sweat out two hours in the gym, get your energy depleted or worry about eventually hurting your game. I can create a more comprehensive golf workout routine -- one involving 20 exercises and taking 90 minutes to complete -- as I have done so for hundreds of other golfers.
But for now, a simple golf workout routine is where I want to lead you. Oh, yes, besides the hand weight, you might want to add a stability ball and exercise tubing to your set of equipment. That’s just about it. The exercises are done at home.
I need not go now into the details of the dozens of golf specific exercises you can do using the equipment we have just mentioned. Go get yourself first a qualified golf fitness trainer who agrees with my current proposition.
Get one who is not in the habit of applying general fitness exercises with weight-lifting machines on his clients. True golf workout routines are done on one’s feet or seated on a stability ball, not perched on a machine. It is in these non-mechanized positions that balance, stability and strength for your golf swing are developed.
Needless to say, doing the wrong exercises can hurt your golf game, rather than help it. How often have I heard of some golfer who took on a weight training program only to end up with higher scores and shorter drives.
Your best bet is to get a golf fitness trainer who knows the sport well enough to advocate golf specific programs. You can ask a few questions to quickly test his knowledge. What are the things that make a golfer come out of posture when swinging? Why does a hook happen? What are lateral slides?
Start out on the simplest of golf
workout routines as suggested above. Find an ally
in an updated golf fitness trainer. Without ever having
to tackle any time-consuming or intimidating fitness
program, you may find yourself regularly winning all
the money from the other members of your foursome!
