What Makes An Effective Golf Training Aid

Mike Pedersen

Written By

A golf training aid is a “dime-a-dozen”. It’s a gazillion dollar business and feeds on the vulnerable golfer looking for the magic bullet. Well…there is no magic bullet! I hate to tell you that!

But a golf training aid can definitely help if you choose the right one. What differentiates the “right one” and a wrong one?

First off…a golf training aid should be specific to the golf swing. I know what you’re saying…but hear me out. A good example of not being specific to the swing is the Swing Kallassy. I don’t mean to be too negative, but where in the golf swing does your hands every spread apart and slide up and down a shaft?

Never!

On the other hand…a weighted golf club is exactly the golf swing but with resistance. You can’t get anymore golf-specific than that can you?

So next time you’re looking for a golf training aid, make sure it will help your specific swing fault. Don’t buy it just because you saw it on the Golf Channel.
