How Golf Weight Training Can Add Power And Distance
Golf weight training is a very effective way to not only add power and distance to your golf swing, but also keep you injury-free to play all the golf you want…without risk of a golf injury.
A golf weight training program is much different than going to a gym and using the machines. First off…machines isolate one muscle group at a time…and most require you to sit down. Both of these points do not apply to golf. Golf is “on your feet” and requires the sequence of motion of your entire body. Therefore, going to a gym and using the machines is not an effective way to improve your golf-specific strength and golf flexibility.
A golf weight training routine on the other hand incorporates the use of dynamic and very affordable equipment like a stability ball, exercise tubing, weighted medicine balls and hand weights.
All of my golf training dvds and even my golf training manual incorporate the use of these pieces. The beauty of this approach is that you can have your complete “in-home” golf fitness gym for under $100 easily. So you’re saving time and money.
You’ve got to picture the position your body is in when doing your golf weight training exercises. Sitting in a machine isolating one muscle group won’t accomplish this.
You’ve got to be “on your feet” and most likely in your golf posture as much as possible when doing your exercises. Within this position you can break up the golf swing into junks and apply exercise with the tubing, medicine ball, stability ball and hand weights.
You will get the most out of your golf workout with this approach!
