Improve Your Golf Posture With Simple Golf Exercises
Golf posture is critical to repeating a mechanically sound and repeatable golf swing. How many times have you taken a lesson and heard your golf teaching pro say, “you’re coming out of your golf posture”?
To maintain optimal golf posture, there are several physical requirements that need to be met. Your body is bent forward at the hips, your knees are flexed and you are slightly on the balls of your feet. This is not a natural position for you to be in, therefore it is very easy for you to want to get out of this very important postition.
The key muscles involved in golf posture are your hamstrings, glutes, lower back and even your stomach (core). I have made a point with all of my golf exercises in my golf fitness dvds, golf exercise book, and golf training membership site to strengthen AND stretch these key muscles.
Any imbalance, weakness or restriction will make it virtually impossible for you to maintain, or even get in an efficient golf posture position.
The simplist way to improve this scenario is to implement golf exercises and stretches that mimic your golf posture. Such as standing on your feet. Not sitting down, like on a machine in your local gym; and getting in your golf posture for every exercise.
A good example of a golf exercise would be the Golf Posture Lateral Raise:
- Bend forward at hips just beyond normal golf posture.
- Hold dumbbells in front of your thighs, palms facing each other.
- Slowly raise dumbbell to the side and up.
- Slowly bring back down to pre-stretch position.
Do you see how this would quickly build up the strength in your golf specific posture muscles as well as the key area of this exercise which is the back of your shoulders? The only equipment required was a pair of dumbbells (hand weights), which probably cost about $10. No fancy gym. And in the convenience of your home, saving you time.
This is just one example of a simple golf exercise you can do quickly and conveniently in your home to dramatically transform your game!
