Golf Stretch For This Weekend’s Golf Game

I want you to do one golf stretch for me during the round this weekend.  This stretch (see picture to your right) will enable your backswing muscles to stay loose specific to your swing.  This is simple stretch, but if done throughout the round will allow you to have the same driving distance for 18 holes.  You won’t do the usual fatigue and tighten routine later in the round like 80% of amateurs experience. 

You’ll be limber and loose to make the FULL backswing for the entire round.

PGA Players Taking Steroids?

Gary Player started it at the British Open. Boy did he create a stir! Gary stated very strongly that he knows for a fact players who are on steroids. It was interesting hearing what some of the players had to say.

“He knows two [players]? I know zero,” six-time major winner Nick Faldo said. “Never heard of anybody.”

“If anything, probably out here it would be testing positive for maybe being hung over a little bit,” Woods said. “But that’s about it. I know some guys have taken Medrol packs for inflammation in their wrists, but other than that, I really don’t see anybody doing anything, or have heard anybody doing anything.”

“I don’t think there’s even a remote chance that will happen,” he said of a golfer testing positive for steroids. - Phil Mickelson

Do you think Phil is on steroids? Not! How about John Daly? Or maybe Sean O’Hair (weighs 150 pounds dripping wet).

I think a little controversy won’t hurt anyone. We need to stay light-hearted about this and see how it plays out. Can’t wait to see!

If you’ve ever been to any of my golf sites, you’ll know I hammer the topic of golf exercise into a golfers brain 24/7!  Why?  Because it’s the answer to 90% of all amateur golfers problems. 

But…I want to reassure you of my unique approach!  Simple exercises right in your home!  10 minutes a day is all you need!  No expensive equipment or fitness club membership.  Just a little guidance and you’ll be on your way to a fantastic, and much more enjoyable game!

Improve Your Power With Simple Golf Exercises

Every golfer wants more power in their golf swing!  Don’t you?  If so, what have you done to get it?  I’ve heard every attempt under the sun!  New equipment; more lessons; distance golf balls; and of course the gimmicky training aids.

Well…I hate to burst your bubble…but it’s none of the above!  And before you bombard me with your opinions on the newer technology, let me just state a fact.  The USGA has come up with a staggering number for amateur golfers.

The average US handicap has NOT changed one point, or a fraction of a point for more than 17 years!  Whoah!  Unbelievable!

Improve Shoulder Turn With This Core Exercise For Golf

Rssn_Twst_SB_Fnsh1.jpgEvery golfer is looking for ways to improve their shoulder turn. Core exercise for golf is an effective way to achieve this. To turn you shoulders farther on your backswing, you need more flexibility or range of motion in your core area.

Hitting more balls or making more backswings will not improve your shoulder turn unless you improve your core flexibility with exercise that is specific to shoulder turn rotation.

This illustration shows a simple golf exercise on a stability ball that will give you more freedom and a bigger shoulder turn from your core. You will notice I am on a stability ball with my arms extended above me. In this bridge position I am going to rotate as far to the right as I can, then rotate as far to the left as I can while staying stable on the ball.

If I want to make it more challenging and improve my core strength in addition to shoulder turn, I will hold a single dumbbell and do the exact same movement. This is just one of many simple core exercises for golf that will make a dramatic difference in your swing.

Exercise For A Golfer…Are You Game

sttnry_swg_mb_bs.jpgI was having coffee (yes…the trainer drinks coffee) with a friend of mine who is also a golfer and he got on the topic of Tiger Woods and this last tournament. I just sat back and listened (which is very hard for me to do) as he talked about Tigers dominance of the tournament.

It then came out. He says, “man Tiger is so strong! Did you see him out of the rough?” Then it was my time to chime in.

I said, “don’t you think exercise for a golfer can make a difference? Do you think if you were stronger your swing would be better?”

He staired at me for a moment and started laughing. He said, “you are a golf trainer, you are supposed to plug exercise!”

I didn’t deny it but wanted to get his honest take on it. Needless to say, he agreed and we changed the subject to the weather or something.
